Fresh Fields Approach for ENZAFOODS

Finding suitable people to fill key roles within a company can be a time consuming task, with sifting through hundreds of applications akin to trying to find a needle in a haystack.

This has been the case at times for ENZAFOODS Chief Operating Officer Wayne Baird, but the decision to use RIOT Recruitment to find staff for two recently created corporate positions changed all that.

ENZAFOODS employs about 250 people across its operations in Hawke’s Bay and Nelson, and engaged RIOT Recruitment near the end of last year to find a Marketing Manager and Brand Manager.

David France and Robin Percy were subsequently appointed to the respective roles.

Wayne says he chose RIOT Recruitment because he had known Director Ian Beattie’s proven track record in business, and as such understood how the RIOT team worked.

Unlike other recruitment agencies, he says, RIOT’s approach meant that when it came time to interview prospective candidates the list had already been whittled down to a select few capable of truly performing the job.

“Ian and Rohan did a lot of research to understand our business and the key performance areas we were seeking.”

“After screening the applicants, they presented us with three candidates for each position, all of whom were capable of doing the job.”

“It gave us the ability to choose the best of the best, and saved a lot of time and frustration so I could get on with the job of running the company.”

Wayne says RIOT’s network and database of people both across New Zealand and internationally is a huge advantage.

“Sometimes it can be a lengthy process finding key staff members, they do not always pop up straight away, so RIOT’s ability to access suitable candidates in a relatively short time frame was a huge plus.”

“It’s also helpful to bring in someone outside of the company for this process to give a different perspect ive on things,” says Wayne.

With David and Robin settling well into their roles, Wayne says he would have no hesitation in using RIOT Recruitment again.

“They are great to deal with, and their focus on gaining a thorough understanding of how the business works gives you the confidence they will deliver.”
